Meet Tom "Lash" Laskow
Owner, Operator

ProEdge bowling has been providing advanced pro shop tools and accessories to the domestic and international bowling community for over 30 years. Our unique formulated compounds and patented tools have proven to be consistent and exceed the most demanding expectations of our bowling clients.

Thomas Anthony Laskow, aka "Lash" was born July 24 1951, Brooklyn, NY. In 1962, at age 12, having moved out to Long Island, he would be caught by the bowling bug as a junior league bowler at Commack Vets Lanes, and begin his journey in the bowling industry. It wasn't long that during those pioneering days of the PBA, Tommy realized his passion and dreams to some day compete as a professional bowler on the PBA Tour.

That dream materialized in 1973 when he was able to complete his qualifications and submit his PBA application that had been in his sock drawer since the age of 13. Those early days of regional and national tournament competition served as the stepping stones for this young professional's dream to capture a PBA title. After 11 years as a touring pro, 3 national TV appearances, and an ABC Eagle title, Tommy decided to hang up those competitive shoes, and apply for a business license.

In 1984, in the bowling center where he started his bowling career, he opened Lash's Professional Edge – the 1st of 4 locations. Having had a long time affiliation with AMF corporate and his 2nd shop location inside AMF East Meadow Bowl, he was asked to operate the AMF exhibit at the ABC National Tournament & Convention, being held in Niagara Falls. It was during that year in 1987 that Pro Edge Products was launched to the competing audience of 55,000 bowlers from all over the world.

That initial relationship with the annual returning bowlers lasted for 11 years, which provided the perfect venue for the introduction of many services, as well as new patented and exclusive bowling products. The proprietary services that the participants would come to be offered during those years were the: Complimentary Grip and Track Evaluation, The Daily Lane Report, Leverage Drive, Compu-Balance Layouts and True-Turn Ball Resurfacing.

During the year 1994, Tom would envision a new, more complete layout tool for the pro shop technician. The new patented tool would be of a one-piece molded construction featuring a protractor to measure angles. Partnering in the new tool project with Lash, would be long time business friend Turbo 2n1 grips. Starting in 1995, they would produce and distribute his “Pro-Sect”, only to become the most popular pro shop layout tool found around the world.

One year later while preparing for the ABC Championships in Salt Lake City, he along with friend Joe Conigliaro developed and patented the Custom Thumb molding system. He would feature it in 1996 at the AMF booth to his clients. Currently, it is recognized as the fastest, simplest, most reliable, method to mold a thumbhole and create an insert from that mold.

In 1997, AMF Corporation would be totally re-structured, and the Nationals held in Huntsville Alabama would be Tommy’s last year of involvement with the AMF National’s booth. The following years he would work with Brunswick Corporation to create the Pro-Source program, and Innovative Bowling Products to develop the 3D Swoval measuring ball, and the Powerhouse re-surfacing machine.

The year 2000, would start a long and current relationship with Ebonite International. Tommy would help roll out the EBI Demo Day sales program, featuring the first interchangeable grip and slug system. Acting as the Northeast demo leader, the “try before you buy” method is one of the most successful programs he can bring to help generate sales for a hosting pro shop.

ProEdge Bowling serves as Lash’s personal R&D development company. His curiosity and passion to create new products that serve the bowling community is on-going. New products that have been developed, is this M.A.P. & M.A.G. Systems. These specially formulated compounds, accomplish multi-shop applications for the pro shop technician.

That curiosity and passion has also extended into his love for coaching. Whether its private lessons, youth clinics or assisting a college team, that Lash’s way of giving back. He is currently working, and will complete his Gold Coach Certification in the fall of 2017.

Along with the on-going projects of coaching (New Approach Bowling Academy), the development of new products (ProEdge), and ball demos for Ebonite, Lash has always tried to find some time for his first love, which is to stay competing in the PBA.

What Our Customers Are Saying
"Using your MAP clear plug to make my custom thumb slugs are great. It has a low viscosity, 7 min. pot life (versus 3 min. with the Vise product) and it sets up in 45 minutes or so. And the mold release allows me to separate the mold easily."

"The Custom Thumb® product is absolutely fantastic, perfect! You can't even compare it to Vise Product. Thumb is hard and similar to regular thumb slug. I'm using Your products with pleasure."
